Description: 

A New Zealand native evergreen tree or shrub, with a rounded canopy.

Large heart shaped leaves with long petioles. The leaves have an alternate arrangement and are toothed along the margin.

Attractive white flowers with yellow stamens 2.5cm across are borne in spring and early summer. Followed by seed capsules that are covered with spines, similar to chestnut burrs.

Fast growing, frost tender, requires shelter from strong winds.

Tropical styled gardens, background, screen, filler.
