Description: 

Evergreen tree or shrub, leaves are 4 to 10cm long, oblanceolate in shape and alternate in arrangement.

Small flowers borne in spring that are dull purple-red in colour. Reddish bark that peels off in thin flakes. Seed capsules have 2-3 loped wings.

Tolerates coastal conditions. Can trim lightly.

Ht: 3 - 7m tall

Uses: 

Windbreak, hedge, screen or filler

Propagation: 

By seed or cuttings.
