Description: 

A hardy evergreen large shrub or small tree with deep glossy green foliage and beautiful flowers

Flowers are creamy white with golden stamens appearing late autumn through to spring. They are 8-10cm with 5 or 6 wide open petals.

Leaves are leathery 15cm long, elliptic to oblanceolate in shape.

In the same family to Camellias so prefers the same growing conditions.

Best in semi shade, but where it also receives sun to help the flowering process.

Attractive bark.

Ht: up to 3.5 to 6 m and 3m wide

Uses: 

As a feature tree, winter interest.

Propagation: 

From seed or half hardened cuttings
